Species of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera species are widely cultivated as ornamental plants in home; gardens and pots.Diffrent species of Aloe vera plants can be decorative and is used for their gels and medicinal use. Not all but some species of Aloe vera have great healing properties.

Aloe vera whenever taken internally or externally has its beneficial effects on your body. It can be used for first aid in your home. It acts as laxative when taken internally and externally it’s relieve your from skin discomforts. Both the inner pulp and yellow exudates are useful in medicinal purpose.

There are around 400 Aloe vera species of genus aloe family but here we are mentioning some of the important Aloe vera species.

• Aloe arborescens - Aloe Arborescens Miller has medicinal properties and is used in healthcare.
• Aloe aristata - known as torch plant and lace aloe, generally found in South Africa and surrounding area. Its nectar rich flower attracts birds, wasp and bees easily.
• Aloe dichotoma - known as quiver tree or kokerboom, generally found in South Africa and Namibia also. Its bark and branches are used by Bushmen to make quiver for their arrows.
• Aloe ngobitensis: it’s a succulent and member of the aloe genus found in Kenya.
• Aloe variegata - known as tiger aloe, is a species of aloe indigenous to South Africa.
• Aloe vera Barbados Aloe: Found in northern Africa and has various medicinal use.
• Aloe wildii: has a glasslike appearance and is in the family asphodelaceae. Found in Africa.
